Industries > Petro-Chemical

A petrochemical is any chemical derived from fossil fuels. These include purified fossil fuels such as methane, propane, butane, gasoline, kerosene, diesel fuel, aviation fuel, or fuel oil, and also include many agricultural chemicals such as pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers, and other items such as plastics, asphalt and synthetic fibers. A wide variety of industrial chemicals are also considered to be petrochemicals.

The technical personnel in most chemical and petrochemical plants are responsible for monitoring process status, detecting abnormal events, diagnosing the source causes, and administering proper intervention to bring the process to normal operation. Advances in sensor technologies, distributed control systems, and computer technologies have increased the amount of data collected and presented to plant personnel. The explosion in the amount of information, increased interaction in the plant for higher efficiency and productivity, and reductions in plant staff have caused new challenges to plant personnel in supervising process operation. Oceana Sensor's Technology Solutions Network™ can provide the tools to interpret and summarize raw data, present the refined information in forms that could be interpreted easily, highlight critical events, and suggest recovery procedures to facilitate the supervision tasks of plant personnel.
There are several incentives that motivate the consideration of our products:

• Safer plant operation.
• Proactive response to abnormal situations.
• More consistent and reliable production of high quality products.
• Better management and utilization of resources through improved supervision.
• Effective use of process data for monitoring, event detection and diagnosis.
• Economic benefits of reduced downtimes and rational organization of plant maintenance.
• Integration of data processing, process monitoring and supervisory tasks.
• Flexible software environment for development, implementation, and maintenance.
